Psychological Testing

As parents, we don’t always know the right thing to say or do.  However, we usually know when something isn’t right with one of our children.  We know because we struggle when they struggle—and  we agonize right along with them – when they feel left out or different from other kids.  We can tell that something isn’t right and we wonder:  Do other kids struggle like this?  Is it just a phase?  Maybe he’s just not trying.  Is it my fault? Do other parents feel this way?

One advantage to living in the present age, in addition to indoor plumbing and Starbucks, is that we don’t have to settle for our children being labeled as “lazy” or “crazy,” or “stupid.”  The problem with these labels, in addition to being shame-based, is that they don’t actually explain what is happening with your child!

Parents often tell us that they wish someone could just explain how it is that their child learns, and how best to unlock their potential. When your parental instincts sense that something is wrong you don’t have to struggle to figure it out on your own. There is no shame in getting assistance for your child from experts.  We are those experts.

If you’re worried that your child has ADHD or a learning disability or behavioral problems, we can help! The psychologists at St. Raphael’s Counseling use the most advanced and up-to-date psychological and educational assessment materials to pinpoint strengths and areas of growth.  We take the time to get to know each child and family in order to provide an accurate diagnosis as well as a tailored list of recommendations.
