Ila Rosengarten, School Counselor

Ila is an East Coast native who moved to Colorado shortly after graduating from Boston College with a degree in English. She received her Master’s in school counseling from the Morgridge School of Education at the University of Denver. Most recently, she spent six years at Mullen High School supporting the College Counseling Department. It was her work with the students at Mullen that led to her pursuit of a career in school counseling. A convert to the Catholic faith, Ila feels strongly that God called her to this vocation. She and her husband Greg are parents to three children, now young adults. Ila witnessed the way in which her own children were positively impacted by school counselors and hopes to be the same source of support for students and their families. She is working with students as a school counselor at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Academy and Christ the King Roman Catholic School. Ila’s mental health care tip is that self-care should be on the top of everyone’s to-do list. We cannot be the best versions of ourselves if we do not take care of ourselves. Even just fifteen minutes of fresh air, prayer, or self-reflection can do wonders for our bodies, minds, and souls. The opportunity to provide faith-based counseling inspires Ila because she wants to remind students that they are so much more than their grades and test scores, that they are beautifully made by God and incredibly loved by Him.
